Respite Co-op News

I hope that by now, each of you have heard about the co-op that we're forming. It will be an opportunity for adoptive parents to join together as a community of support. Parents will have a list of people to call when they need a break or have a family emergency or event that can't include everyone, as well as providing a chance for kids to make new friends.

We're kicking it off in region three, the Albuquerque area, with a training on May 21st from 5-8 pm. Leah Brouwers will speak to us about the ins and outs of providing and receiving respite, the responsibilites in having extra kids in your home, ways to support the parent/child relationship and how to communicate effectively with other parents. Child care is full at this time, but you're still welcome to come if you can find your own child care....I know, kind of ironic, considering the topic, but we've plum run out of space. A light meal will be available.
